Places To Go

Gozo: Malta’s sister island is greener and more tranquil than the main island. There is a little bit less to do here in terms of activities and nightlife but there is plenty to see and Gozo’s charm is in its laid back quiet atmosphere. However, this all changes when national events such as carnival have Maltese and foreigners alike swarming to the tiny island and for a few days Gozo becomes a wild adventure you wouldn’t want to miss out on.

Mdina: Older than Valletta and beautifully preserved Mdina is known as The Silent City. It is a labyrinthine maze of narrow streets and alleyways haphazardly woven into a tightly fit landscape of stunning baroque architecture. Set on high land overlooking Malta, Mdina offers some great vistas.

Valletta: World Heritage City, European Capital of Culture 2018, built by The Order of the Knights of St. John in the 16th century in response to the threat of an attack by the Ottoman Empire, the city of Valletta is both a vision of function and beauty. High stone bastions surround the planned city and within its walls are a collection of stunning baroque buildings which include the Grandmaster’s Palace and the breathtaking St. Johns Co-Cathedral, as well as the new Parlament by Renzo Piano.

Sliema: Sliema is a shining example of the more cosmopolitan side of Maltese life and is a great place to go for a stroll on the waterfront, do some shopping or laze away an afternoon people watching from any one of the numerous cafes.

Mellieha: The village of Mellieha surrounds Malta’s biggest sandy beach and is a popular spot for visitors during the summer months when the clear waters and warm sand are almost irresistible during the summer heat. However, if you’re looking to get away from the crowds and sunbathe in a slightly cozier setting then nearby Golden Bay and Ghajn Tuffieha Bay might be better suited.

Paceville: Located in St. Julians, Paceville is famously the hub of Maltese nighlife and offers a huge array of bars and clubs all concentrated in a single area, perfect for a night of reveling and meeting new people. Paceville offers a dynamic and varied selection of bars and clubs that range from blues and rock bars to electronic music, and attract thousands of party goers every weekend. During the summer months Paceville attracts the crowds on a nightly basis.
